Sammy Adjei Released By Israeli Club

Accra Hearts of Oak are seeking to bring back goalkeeper Sammy Adjei and striker Louis Agyeman to the club.

The Phobians are rebuilding after a poor season and have made a top class goalkeeper and striker their priority.

Hearts officials are in discussions with Adjei who has been released by his Israeli club Modena Ashdod after three seasons and are confident they can clinch a deal for the former Ghana number one.

If a deal goes through, Adjei will be returning to a club he knows inside out. He played for the Phobians between 1997-2004 playing a key part in their clean sweep of trophies including the African Champions League in 2000.

After a failed stint in Tunisia with Club Africaine, he returned to the Phobians but did not stay long before moving out again.

Hearts have sacked goalkeeper Sannie Mohammed who replaced Adjei in 2004 but the former national goalkeeper may just be the perfect man to stabilize the club's shaky defence.

With thirty three caps and three Nations Cup tournaments behind him, Adjei will bring bags of experience to the side.

Same cannot be said of Louis Agyeman their hero from the 2004 Confederations Cup winning side but Hearts are prepared to take a gamble on the former Kaizer Chiefs striker whose career has gone down hill since leaving the Phobians.
