Ghana's second choice goalkeeper, Sammy Adjei, will not return to the Israeli side Moadan Sport Ashdod after the African Cup of Nations.

The 27-year-old was released by the struggling club on Friday following their difficult start to the season.

The club announced the arrival of Israeli goalkeeper Tom Almadon to replace Ghana's second safest hands.

Ashdod, who finished 7th in the table last season, are currently 10th in the 12-team league after 13 rounds of matches.

Adjei's Ghanaian agent in Israel, Daniel Asiedu, who is well connected, should not face any problems in finding him a new club in the country.

But the keeper could return to his former club Accra Hearts of Oak if he fails to seal a deal abroad.

Adjei joined Moadan Sport Ashdod in 2005 and was well liked by fans of the club.

His release by the club means Ghana's the two top goalkeepers will not be in competitive action before the start of the African Cup of Nations next month.

First choice keeper Richard Kingson was axed from the first team of English side Birmingham after a howler.
