Former West Africa Football Academy [WAFA] star who now plays for Red Bull Salzburg in the Major League Soccer in the USA, Samuel Tetteh is optimistic his former outfit will clinch the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League title.
WAFA has exhibited some impressive performance this season picking up some important points both home and away.
Tetteh who was at the Red Bull Arena inside Sogakope last Sunday to witness his former side dismantled Hearts of Oak 5-0 in the match day 17 fixture of the GPL mentioned that he wasn’t surprised at their performance adding that the players are now matured and is adamant they will win the ultimate this season.
"I am not surprised with the WAFA are playing." He told the media. "My former colleagues have matured and have learnt how to play in the league.
"Initially they didn't know how to win away games, but this season they are winning those as well and that is helping their course as a team.
"The scoreline will shock many, especially being against Hearts of Oak. The players want to make a name for themselves before they join other clubs locally or abroad.
"Its been a good season so far for them and I am proud of what they have achieved this season as a team. I think winning the league will be a plus for them and I am confident that with what I have seen and the fact that they have started picking some away points, they can surely win it.
He further urged his former teammates to avoid complacency and make sure that they take one match at a time.
"My advice to them is that they should eschew complacency and focus on getting as many points as possible in the league and in other competitions.
"I will be very happy to see them win the league for the very first time as a team, and I know they are capable of doing it." He added.
WAFA are currently leading the premier league table with 35 points and will play relegation threatened Liberty Professionals at the Dansoman Sports Stadium on Friday in the match day 18 fixture.
