Ghana defender Jeffery Schlupp has revealed that he is comfortable with his new role at Leicester City after he was deployed in left-midfield during his side’s 2-1 FA Cup win over Tottenham last Saturday.
The German-born Ghanaian used to play as a striker in 2011 after graduating from the club’s academy but was later converted to a left-back. Now, the 22-year-old says he is adapting well to his new role.
“I’m definitely comfortable there. I’ve said in other interviews that I played on the left side of midfield pretty much my whole first season in the youth team, so it’s nothing new to me, like left back was,” Schlupp said.
Schlupp, who has scored 3 goals in 18 English Premier League appearances this season, is hoping that being able to settle in his role will earn him more playing time in the top flight.
“I say it all the time – I’ll play anywhere to be in the team and in the Premier League – so I’m very comfortable at left midfield at the moment and hopefully I can get some more appearances.”
