The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has decided that allegations of bribery in the nation's football must be investigated by the security agencies.
A release signed by the Chairman of the GFA, Mr. Ben Koufie, said considering the seriousness of the allegations and their likely harmful effects on Ghana soccer, they should be referred to the security agencies for thorough investigations.
The investigations follow revelations made by Tamale-based Class One Referee J.D.K Essel when he appeared before the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA, Thursday last week.
Essel disclosed to the committee that Mr. Kwadwo Nyarko, Kotoko's deputy Accra representative approached him with an offer of ?10 million to influence him to testify against Hearts at the committee's sitting.
He also disclosed that ?5million was offered him to ensure that the match between Hearts and Goldfields ended in a draw.
Essel again told the committee that an attempt was made by Alhaji Mukaila, a top official of Real Tamale United (RTU) who acted on behalf of George Amoako, another top Kotoko management member.
As if that was not enough, Essel recalled also how Ho-based Match Commssioner Afidzie told him to alter his report and replace the name of Jacob Nettey with Charles Taylor.
An official of Sunyani-based Bofoakwa Tano football club has also alleged that some top men of both Kotoko and Hearts attempted to influence their team with money before either of the two clubs played against them in Sunyani.
