Accra, Sept 10, GNA - The nation-wide selection process of players for the maiden Ghana Goal Hunt contest has begun.

The exercise which began in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital on Wednesday attracted over 100 participants. Twenty players were selected after the screening exercise conducted by the technical team consisting of Ebo Mends, President of the Ghana Goal Hunt Incorporated and Dan Owusu, immediate deputy trainer of the Black Queens.

Mends told GNA Sports on Wednesday from Bolgatanga that the train's next stop would be at Wa, the Upper West Regional capital on Friday, September 12 and would from there proceed to Tamale, the Northern Regional capital on Sunday, September 14 to continue with the exercise. He said the exercise had started on a right footing and remains optimistic that it will churn out the targeted goals. Two hundred selected players to be picked nationwide will be pruned down to 30 to be housed at the 10-bedroom Ghana Goal Hunt House at East Legon, Accra.

The Tema Sports Stadium will serve as the centre for training with live television programs to be produced by South African-based Television Company, AFRISAT which will be aired on three networks across the country.

The project, the brainchild of Mends seeks to unearth and develop striking talents in the country.
