'Selfish' Nyantakyi does not care about Ghana football – Dan Kweku Yeboah

Ace Sports Broadcaster and owner/editor of the Ghana Sports newspaper, Dan Kweku Yeboah has added his voice to the numbers advocating for the dismissal of Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association, suggesting the latter cares little about Ghana football as most of his actions only favor his 'selfish' ambitions.

Being a known avid critic of the Kwesi Nyantakyi-led administration, Mr Yeboah never fails to strongly share his opinion on Mr. Nyantakyi's style of leadership any chance he gets.

The President of Ghana ordered the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service to investigate Mr. Nyantakyi over fraud allegations.

It followed a complaint made by President Akufo-Addo to the CID, accusing the GFA president of using his name to solicit for funds.

Sources at the Presidency revealed that the President's actions emerged from what he might have seen in the recent investigative piece by Anas Aremeyaw Anas on bad practices in the Ghanaian football space.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb Sports Editor Daniel Oduro, Mr. Yeboah touching on the GFA President's recent brush with the law, said the current situation only supported his appeal to have the GFA President removed.

Mr. Yeboah who used to be good friends with Mr. Nyantakyi said he noticed the latter was up to no good after having several conversations with him on how best to advance the nation's football Association and the seeming egocentric responses he always got.

He recounted one of such instances saying,"I remember on our way to Montenegro ahead of the 2014 World Cup, we were on the same chartered flight, myself, Dr Mustapha, the former minister, Ibrahim Sannie-Daara and the other FA members. I asked him why is he refusing to grant semi-autonomy to the Premier Leauge board so we could get some level of independence for us to be a bit professional. He said, 'Oh you know all the country that have made the organising body of the Leauge a semi-autonomous body or have granted that body some independence, the body turns out to fight the FA', so I immediately realised that it is not about the good of Ghana football, it is about him. If it would fight him, to hell with you irrespective of the benefit that we stand to gain as a country."

Mr. Yeboah described the GFA President as ''intellectually arrogant'', because he does not listen or even put to practice a shred of any advice or suggestion he may receive from others especially his colleagues in the field, hence the reason for his 'poor' performance as GFA president.

"Interestingly, when you engage him in Private, he will seem to agree with you on everything but it is like when you leave the scene, I don't know what he says in his head, maybe he says get out with your nonsense," he noted.

Meanwhile, several other Ghanaians seem to have had enough of the GFA President and want to see his exit.

Some believe he has held on to power for what seems like an eternity and needs to be replaced, others like Mr. Yeboah are of the strong view that his style of managing the GFA is the main contributing factor to the ailing football economy in the country.
