The Manchester City winger will compete against Amad Diallo, Yoane Wissa, Ismael Saibari, Achraf Hakimi, Brahim Díaz, Ismaïla Sarr, Pape Gueye, Sadio Mané and Teboho Mokoena.
Paris Saint-Germain defender Hakimi is expected to be among the leading contenders after his side won the treble, including back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles. Semenyo, however, will also be hoping his achievements earn him the award.
It has been a long time since a Ghanaian won a major award at the CAF ceremony, making this year’s contest particularly significant for Ghanaian fans.
Yirenkyi and Semenyo both enjoyed strong performances for their respective clubs and the national team during the season and at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
