Seminar on sports journalism opens

Accra, June 27, GNA - A four-day seminar aimed at updating the knowledge of sports journalist in Ghana opened on Monday, June 27, at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra.

The seminar is being organised by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, (SWAG) is part of activities marking this year's International Day of the Sports Journalist, which falls on July 2.

Participants attending the seminar would go through lectures on tennis, boxing, football, radio and TV commentary. Other areas to be treated during the seminar are the ethics of profession, creative writing, and Press law.

Among the resource persons to handle the various topics are coach David Churcher of the Ghana Tennis Association (GTA), Mr Moses Foh Amoaning, Chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority, (GBA), Mr Sammy Okaitey and Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh both of the Graphic Communications Group Limited and Mr Kwabena Yeboah of Africa Sports.

The rest are Dr. Bonnah Koomson, School of Communications Studies, Legon, Nii Nortey Duah, formerly of Ghana Broadcasting Cooperation (GBC), Mr Kweku Sakyi-Addo, a freelance journalist, Professor Kofi Kumado and Mr Joe Aggrey, former Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sports.

The course will end on Thursday, June 30.
