Set up another body to manage league - Baffoe

Former Ghana striker Anthony Baffoe wants the Ghana Premier League to be managed by an independent body.

The 50-year-old believes the Premier League Board, set up by the country's football association since 1993 to steer the affairs of the league, should be made independent of the Ghana FA executive committee.

“The league should be run by an independent body like in England,” Baffoe told Metro FM.

“In my view, the PLB can be made independent or we can have a new body with a chairman, a chief executive and a well-structured department to see the day-to-day activities of the league.

“I gave Welbeck Abra-Appiah [immediate past PLB chairman] and Kwesi Nyantakyi [GFA president] documents on how to improve the league which was discussed during the executive committee sitting recently,” he added.

Baffoe is the secretary of Professional Footballers Association of Ghana. He also monitors the wellbeing of footballers before, during and after their career.

Goal understands that the 2015-16 season which was proposed by the PLB to start on December 20 may start either in January or early February as the results of pending legal issues involving Techiman City and Wa African United as well Dreams FC and Tema Youth FC.
