Head coach for Accra Hearts of Oak, Henry Wellington says the friendly game against Elmina Sharks at the Cape Coast stadium on Sunday was to introduce some of his players to their new home venue so they adapt to the pitch.
Hearts lost to Elmina Sharks on Sunday by a lone goal in a pre-season friendly at the Cape Coast Stadium. According to Wellington, it was a good exercise and an opportunity for his players to adapt to their new home venue.
In an interview with the media after the game, he said, “It was a very good exercise. We chose to play this game at our new home to start adapting to the pitch but it was a good exercise for both sides”.
“This is a preseason game and the intention is to find faults and correct them before the league starts. So we have seen our mistakes and we will correct them before it happens in our league game. This is the first time we are playing our home match at the Cape Coast Stadium.
“We hope with time a lot of supporters will come and watch our matches in our subsequent matches. We had a very good game but it was unfortunate we lost to Elmina Sharks.
Captain of side Inusah Musah also told the media that the game was to entertain the fans and also have a feel of their new home venue. “We wanted to entertain the fans in this game since this is going to be our new home venue. “We will correct our mistakes before the league starts. Accra Hearts of Oak supporters in Cape Coast are happy that we have moved to this place. We hope they will come and support us and we will also make them happy, he added.
