Legendary Ian Wright of Arsenal fame once said play for the badge in front of the jersey and they will recognize you by the name at the back of it. This is exactly what South African import Shuan October is replicating in the Phobian colours, in the month of February though, as confessed by Alhaji Akambi.
Not many foreigners succeed in this harsh football fraternity in the Ghanaian terrain, but the early form of Shaun October seems to negate that old age habit. Noted for his workaholic nature rather than his physical strength on the ball, the silky Shuan has impressed many within the Hearts hierarchy, spearheaded by Alhaji Akambi.
In an exclusive interview with Sportscrusader.com, Alhaji Akambi confessed his surprise at the high tempo in which Shuan is playing at the moment. “Shuan has really proved everybody wrong, as we all thought the strength was not there”, Alhaji confirmed.
“I now believe strength doesn’t play football, as the likes of Senegal, Nigeria, and Cameroon should have been dominating African football”, the soft-spoken Akambi buttressed his initial statement. “He has been outstanding and intelligent with his movement with or without the ball”.
The possibility of getting a call up into the Baffana Baffana team might just be the intrinsic motivation driving Shaun October in this early February though.
