Accra, Feb. 15, GNA - Six table tennis players over the week end qualified for the final "justify your inclusion" exercise for this years' Africa Youth Tournament scheduled for Morocco.
The players are Nana Yaw Boateng, Eric Ofori Addo, Joe Sam, Tweneboah Kodua, Felix Yartey and Derrick Abrefa.
The selected players will engage in another competition after which three of them will gain entry into the final squad for the tournament. The tournament, which was organised by Mr Ebow Bartels, the immediate past Chairman of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, (GTTA) had 18 players drawn from the ten regions of Ghana participating.
Ghana is expected to present a set of eight players for the tournament to be made up of five boys and three girls.
As a result of this, the GTTA will in conjunction with J.A Biney Company organise an invitational tournament on Saturday, February 19, at the D.G. Hathiramani Sports Hall at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra to select five more players to make up the final squad. According to information gathered by the GNA Sports from the secretariat of GTTA, the tournament will involve 15 players to compete for the five slots.
The Girls' Under 18 Division will have Beatrice Gyasi from the Police Service, Akoma Ketu and Evelyn Addo from the Central Region with Eva Ampah from the Eastern Region, Lydia Nkansah from the Ashanti Region and Sophia Addison from the Greater Accra Region respectively, competing for honours.
In the Girls Under-15 Division, Baah Dansoa, Dorothy Obuabi and Comfort Ampah from the Central Region will compete alongside Cynthia Kwabe from the Greater Accra Region. Jerry Akayade and Samuel Akayade, both from the Eastern Region will compete in the Boys Under-15 Division alongside the likes of Derrick Brefa, Benjamin Nebu and Emmanuel Commey from the Greater Accra Region and Michael Amoah to battle for a slot in the Division.
