Sixth edition of Veterans Handball Tournament comes off

Accra, April 09, GNA - The sixth edition of the West African Veterans Championships is scheduled to take off from April 30 to 3rd May at Takoradi in the Western Region.

Six countries from the West African sub-region made up of host, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Cote d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso are expected to converge at Takoradi to contest for the highly competitive ultimate trophy.

Mr Saka Acquaye, Secretary General of the Handball Association of Ghana in a press release copied to GNA Sports said that as part of the programme all the participating teams except those from Cote d'Ivoire are to converge at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex to travel in a convoy to Takoradi.

Those to participate in the Men's division include Beresford Amui, the RSDO of Western Region, William Freeman Ghartey of SG- SSB, Charles Mensah, Henry Akrong and Joseph Aryeetey of Prisons Service. The rest are Yakubu Diamande, Emmanuel Ankrah, Felix

Dowuona, Jimmy Quao, Amu Ankrah, Christopher Quartey and

Patrick Nortey Dowuona. The women's division has Angelina Shang, Mavis Nartey,

Christiana Dodoo, Ruby Aryee, Cynthia Lamptey, Veronica Koney,

Felicia Dadzie, Charity Volomesi and Adoley Abraham. It would be recalled that Ghana won gold medals in both the

men and women's categories of the 2008 edition hosted by Togo at

the Eyadema Handball court in Lome, Togo.
