Henry Asante Twum, the Director of Communications of the Ghana Football Association, has welcomed the football digital platform, Socaloca, in Ghana, describing it as a major step in efforts to market Ghanaian footballers and clubs.

Speaking at the launch of Socaloca in Accra on Wednesday, July 17, 2023, Henry Asante Twum noted that Socaloca will address a major gap in the Ghanaian football ecosystem.

Touting the Socaloca platform as a mark of a paradigm shift in Ghanaian football relative to player data and statistics, Henry Asante Twum explained that the platform will expose Ghanaian players to scouts and clubs in need of their services.

Henry Asante Twum urged Ghanaian clubs and footballers to patronize the Socaloca app and leverage the various benefits it offers to grow their brands.

He disclosed the receptiveness and overwhelming endorsement of the Ghana Football Association and assured the cooperation of the FA to ensure the success of the software application.

"Majority of our clubs have not seen the need to invest in platforms like this [Socaloca], but elsewhere, the information is readily available because they have invested in multifaceted platforms to expose and market their talents,” Henry Asante Twum said.

“I think Socaloca is here to solve a very important and huge role that has been left in our industry.”

Lionel Foy, the Chief Executive Officer of Socaloca, espoused the various features of the app that make it tailored to the unique needs of the Ghanaian football landscape.

He noted that the app has video features that allow clubs and players to upload videos, enhancing their exposure to international scouts and brands, as well as serving as a hub for statistics and data about Ghanaian football.

The clubs can also track the progress of their core group of players, and when it's time to sell players, the club can easily list the players they want to sell on a marketplace.

“We want clubs to be able to make money from the passion that they have for football.”

He disclosed that the myriad of benefits offered by the Socaloca app even extends to referees, who can learn new footballing trends and refereeing rules on the platform.
