Speaker leads Parliamentary delegation to Gyan mother's funeral

Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament Rt. Hon. Edward Doe-Adjaho led a delegation to the funeral of Asamoah Gyan’s mother on Friday.

The Honourable Speaker arrived alongside his deputies; Hon Ebo Barton-Oduro and Joe Ghartey to pay their last respects to Madam Cecelia Love Amoako who died in a car crash last November.

The highly powered delegation from Ghana’s legislature consoled the Gyan family in particular the Black Stars captain in their moment of grief.

“We were informed of the unfortunate passing of the mother of Asamoah Gyan, the captain of our national team,” Minority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu said on behalf of the Speaker at the funeral grounds in Gbawe, Accra.

“The Speaker thus decided to break our evening’s activities to come and mourn with the family.

“We would like to assure the entire family of our unflinching support during this difficult period.

“You can also count on us to play a very active role in the remainder of the activities of the burial service.”

Other members of the delegation from Parliament included; the Deputy Minority Leader Hon. Alfred Agbesi, Hon Irene Naa Toshie Addo, Hon Mathew Opoku Prempeh and other key staff of the house.

The late Madam Cecelia Love Amoako will be buried in her hometown of Mamponteng on Saturday.
