The Greater Accra Regional Sports Authority will
organize a Peer – Review Workshop for its district, municipal and regional
coaches, and sports directors at the Accra Sports Stadium Media Center on
Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Mr. Kwame Amponfi Jr. the Acting Regional Sports Director
said the purpose of the Workshop is to appraise the performance of the
regional, metropolitan, and district sports directors for the past year through
peer review based on the current rudiments respective sports disciplines
administered in the region.
He said the participants of the event would be
lectured on the Preparation of Action Plan, Minutes and Reports Writing, Laws
and Procedures Governing Public Procurement, Sports Nutrition and Injury
Management as well as Work Place HIV / AIDS Education and Management, all in
the view of improving staff capacity for efficient and effective sports
development and promotion in the region.
According to the inspirational, energetic and
articulate young sports administrator who is also chairman of the NSA workers
union, about 86 participants including major media partners in the Greater
Accra region will take part in the programme to be graced by the regional
minister Hon. Julius Debrah, Dr. Prince Pambo, Head of the Medical Directorate
of the NSA and the acting Director – General of the National Sports Authority
(NSA), Madam Alice Attipoe.
Some selected coaches to speak at the event are drawn
from Associations such as Volleyball, Tennis, Handball, Table Tennis, Disabled
Sports (Goalbal), Basketball, Athletics, Boxing, Soccer, Weightlifting,
Cycling, Swimming and Rugby.
Kwame Amponfi Jr. praised the media for propagating
their messages and letting the world know about their schedules, events and
achievements.He noted that without the media, there would be no sports as the
sports media and sports organisers are partners in the development of sports,
and urged them to consider the lesser known or least financed sports
disciplines which yield the nation more medals like weightlifting, swimming,
boxing, cycling and athletics which is now falling due to lack of competitions.
