Former Ghana international Samuel Osei Kuffour has called on the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ghana Football Association to cease fire and work together to ensure the nation wins the AFCON in Gabon next year.

There has been a cold war between the country’s Football Association and the Ministry of Sports since Nii Lantey Vanderpuye took over the sector.

Issues of winning bonuses, who owns the national teams and use of vulgar verbal words has been a norm between the two parties in recent times.

But with Ghana aiming to win the AFCON next year after a 35 year wait for the title Samuel Osei Kuffour who admits he has been monitoring the situation between the GFA and Ministry has called for a cease fire.

“If we want to achieve something as a nation we have to come together as a nation,” Kuffour told Accra based Citi-fm

“In our time we had a problem with the FA but I think things have changed now, they are kitting the players well and players are paid well.”

“But there is a bigger goal and we have to come under one umbrella if we want to succeed in the Africa Cup of Nations In Gabon.”

Ghana is set to play Rwanda in the final game of the AFCON 2017 qualifier next month. The Stars lead Group H with 13 points with second placed Rwanda and Mauritius all having 6 points
