Vice Chairman of the Black Maidens Management Committee Samuel Oduro Nyarko says the Sports Ministry treated the national under-17 women’s football team unfairly by paying up qualification bonuses to the Black Princesses and the Black Queens, when his side was the first to qualify for the Costa Rica 2014 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in February this year.

The Black Maidens players, who finished in the quarter finals of the Costa Rica 2014 tournament, are owed US$6000 each in qualification bonuses after defeating Equatorial Guinea over two legs to book a place at the global soccer fiesta.

Oduro Nyarko wants the Sports Ministry to hand the Black Maidens their World Cup qualification bonuses to reduce the financial burden on the players.

In an interview, Mr Oduro Nyarko lamented, “They have not treated us fairly at all, because if anything, we qualified first and to be honest with you, when the girls heard that the Princesses and the Queens have been paid theirs, they were very sad.”
