The deputy general secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Saani Dara has called on the Sports Ministry to be responsible for all the national teams.

This reaction comes after the deputy Sports minister, Vincent Oppong Asamoah suggested that the FA should rely on the attractiveness of the Black Stars brand to seek funding for the team to help cut down on the Sports ministry’s expenses.

But Dara in an interview with Starr Sports said government must not shy away from its responsibilities to fund the various national teams.

“It is the nation’s responsibility to fund all its national teams. This is because it is constitutional and that is why we elect government to come and serve the people of Ghana.

“This is not the want of the Ghana FA, it is the need of the country. Clubs and individuals are already helping players before they are called up to the national teams. These augment the effort of government in terms of development because these people are GFA members.

“So when we the (GFA) has already started branding the Black Stars, you don’t bedevil us because it takes some burden off government so rather the GFA must be encouraged to be able to do more’, he added.
