Sports Minister Dr. Mustapha Ahmed says his outfit must be part of sponsorship deals signed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) since the Black Stars is a property of the government.

The disappointedAyawaso North MP in the NDC Parliamentary Primary has revealed he has made a proposal to the Ghana FA for his outfit to be involved in the negotiations of sponsorship deals for the Black Stars.

According to him, even though the senior national football team belongs to the state, the GFA has failed to include the Sports Ministry in its negotiations with Puma, Unibank, Cheki Ghana Limited, Rice Masters, et al over the sponsorship deals for the four-time African champions.

"Since the Black Stars is a property of the government, it is, therefore, proper for us to be involved in the sponsorship deals signed on behalf of the Black Stars," Dr. Mustapha said on Starr FM.

"Perhaps if for nothing at all, we should be able to participate in the negotiations and determine what will be best for the Black Stars. That is the way I have proposed that we approach it, he added.

The Sports Ministry and the GFA have recently collided on numerous issues with many observers believing this will worsen the unpalatable relationship that already exist between the two bodies.
