Isaac Asiamah is elated with the output of the Black Starlets
The Minister of Youth and Sports in Ghana, Isaac Asiamah is elated with the output of the Black Starlets though they failed to go past the quarter finals stage of the ongoing Under 17 World Cup.
Mali defeated Ghana by two goals to one in the last eight of the tournament over the weekend and the Minister of Sports says the Starlets need commendation.
“Some of us are very happy with the performance of the Starlets team because over ten years Ghana have not been able to even qualify for the U17 Fifa world cup and appearing there this time is a plus for the country.” Asiamah told Atinka Radio
“We did not disgrace ourselves as we were able to make it all the way to quarter finals stage and it is an achievement,”
He added: “We have to be happy and congratulate the entire team, I believe we can improve upon it in our next competition and work harder to win the trophy next time.”
The last time Ghana participated in the tournament until this edition was in 2007 in Korea where they placed fourth.
