For Ghanaian players plying their trade abroad particularly in Europe and America, loneliness and isolation are part of the daily emotional tortures they go through.

It is in this light that when they realize they’ve accrued enough resources; they quickly trade their bachelorhood for marriage.

Marriage, a dignified and highly revered institution that in the African context signifies the transition of one from ‘immaturity to maturity’.

While some footballers such as Tony Baffoe have been blessed with successful marriages, others have had to part company with their partners amid controversial circumstances as evidenced in the case of Odartey Lamptey.

Irrespective of the excesses that sometimes come with marriage, it’s still remains an attractive venture in the eyes of most humans and footballers are no exception.

David Accam and Florence Dadson

In our of the part of the world, rarely do you hear reports of two sports personalities becoming a union.

We kicked of the year with a marriage ceremony between Black Stars winger David Accam and Black Queens striker Florence Dadson.

The US-based footballers tied the knot in a beautiful traditional marriage ceremony at the Central Regional capital of Cape Coast.

Emmanuel Frimpong

After a short career that was blighted by injuries, the midfielder former Arsenal man found his rib and settled with her in 2019.

It was a ceremony that was hidden from the Ghanaian media but for a picture that he posted on his Instagram no one aside family and close friends would have heard the news of his union.

Little is known about the wife but from the social media posts made by the man whose career was cut short by a niggling injury, they both enjoy the company of each other.

The Labadi Beach Hotel was the venue for the marriage ceremony of the Sassuolo midfielder and his girlfriend who is known as Rhodaline Mortoliin.

The ceremony was reported to be convivial and attended by some colleague footballers - Joseph Mensah, Aziz Tetteh, David Appiah, Ashong Northey.

His wedding came few days after he pulled out of the Black Stars squad for the AFCON to undergo surgery.

Marriage ceremonies of local players hardly makes it to the media space but credit to the Twitter handle of Medeama SC, Zutah’s wedding was different.

The club posted on December 2 posted that one of its longest serving players has married one Doris Agyarkoh.

The ceremony which was attended by the club’s president, teammates and other staff was held in Tarkwa.

Frank Acheampong

Latest sports couple in town. China-based Frank Acheampong got married last week to his girlfriend.

Kwame Oboadie, Akumaa Mama Zimbi, Pope Skinny, and other musicians were among notable faces present to grace the wedding ceremony.

Acheampong enjoyed another successful season in China where he emerged the top assist provider for his club.
