St. Peters Seminary emerge champions of Games

Cape Coast, Feb. 13, GNA - Pedu St. Peters Seminary emerged the over-all champions of the 5th annual Inter Seminary Socialization and Games after bagging 20 points at the Seminary' grounds at Pedu in the Cape Coast Municipality.

St. Paul took the second position with 12 points followed by Spiritans at the third position with seven points while St Victors came last with 5 points.

Four Seminaries, Pedu Seminary, St Paul Seminary, Accra, Spiritans Institute of Philosophy, Ejisu and St Victors Seminary, Tamale, participated in the Games.

The four-day games which coincided with the Golden Jubilee celebration of Pedu Seminary was opened by Cardinal Appiah Turkson, Catholic Archbishop of Cape Coast.

St. Peters dominated the games by winning all the trophies in soccer, Table tennis, Volleyball and Draught, while St. Paul's Seminary was adjudged the best disciplined team.

Earlier in a soccer match to climax the Games, Pedu St Peters whipped St Paul's Seminary 3-0 with midfielder Gregory Afful scoring two goals while centre half, Dominic Andoh increased the tally to three.

Most Rev. Mathias Kobena Nketsiah, Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Arch diocese of Cape Coast who presented trophies to the winners congratulated the Seminaries for exhibiting high sense of discipline and fraternity during the Games.

Mr Mathew Doe, Chairman of the Central Region Football Association commended the Seminarians for their good sportsmanship during the Games and hopes their comportment would guide them to lead upright lives to help transform the society in all aspects of life.
