Starlets Present Trophy To E.T.

Accra (GAR), July 14, - The national under-17 soccer team, the Black Starlets, today presented the trophy they won at the just ended four-nation invitational tournament in the USA to the MinisterFootball Assoiation (GFA), in Accra.

Skipper Godwin Attram presented the magnificent trophy jointly to Mr Mensah and Mr. Charles Ade Coker, chairman of the Starlets Management Committee. Ghana, Mexico, United States of America (USA) and Brazil competed in the two-week tournament which was won by Ghana. Breifing the press, Mr Charles Aryee, leader of the 24-member contingent, said the Starlets beat host nation U.S. 3-2, lost 1-2 to Mexico and defeated Brazil 2-0 in their final match. He said Owusu Afriyie received a personal trophy for being the most valuable player of the tournament.

The GFA Chairman, Nana Sam Brew Butler advised the players not to be carried away by the victory, adding: "this is only a preparation towards the major tournament slated for Egypt next September" He observed that this batch of players have had the best preparation in terms of training tours and called on them to crown it all by winning the world cup for good. Mr Mensah, who said disciplane should be their watchword, advised them to aim at winning more laurels for themselves and the country.
