Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mustapha Ahmed says discussions are still underway to slash the winning bonus of the Black Stars from $10,000 to $5,000.

The activities of the Black Stars within the years were brought to a standstill when the Deputy Sports Minister Vincent Oppong Asamoah reported in the media that the bonus of the players will be slashed to $5000 from the initial $10,000.

The news did not go down well with the leadership of the playing body who rejected the reports with captain Asamoah Gyan and deputy Andre Ayew strongly demonstrating their displeasure to the Sports Minister.

But the Sports Minister who is still adamant on the bonus slash has revealed that series of meetings are being held with the management committee of the Black Stars, leadership of the Football Association and the playing body to arrive at a comfortable conclusion.

The Minister however indicated that Ghanaians should not be in a haste for a decision since it is a delicate matter.

“It is a very delicate and sensitive issue so we need to address it with extreme care. We at the Ministry and the Management Committee of the Black Stars are still deliberating on the issue. We will come out with a decision very soon.”

“We are still discussing the matter and it will not be proper to talk about it on air. We have held some meetings but we are yet to reach a conclusion. As soon as we reach an amicable conclusion, we shall alert the public.”
