Controversial Radio and Television personality, Patrick Osei Agyemang popularly knowns as Countryman Songo has asked Kwesi Nyantakyi to as a matter of emergency to step down as President of the Ghana Football Association.

The GFA president earlier this year, revealed his intention to step aside and give someone else the chance to be in his position when his tenure expires in 2019.

Kwesi Nyantayi said on Joy News that, “Somehow somewhere I will quit. I believe that a time will come when I have to put down my tools and take-off my boots and probably put on different clothes.

“I have announced already that after my current tenure, after my term, I will not seek re-election. I have announced that already”.

However, impatient Songo believes that 2019 is too long a period for Kwesi Nyantakyi to end his reign at the helm of Ghana’s football governing body.

The Host of Fire for Fire on Adom TV who has been a constant critic of the GFA president said in an interview with Ghanaweb.com that the fortunes of Ghana football have dwindled under Kwesi Nyantakyi and that a further two years will only culminate in perpetual destruction.

“Look at the state of our football, its bad. The buck stops with the leader and he is the head of the GFA. He gets the praise when we excel so now that our football is not doing well, he must take the blame. Our football is not going the way he should and we can’t for wait for another two years before he steps down. I believe that he’s done what he can do so he should step down now for another person to come on board. We want to try someone else,” Songo averred.

Kwesi Nyantakyi became GFA President in 2005 and has been re-elected on two occasions.

He has also been elected as Vice President of CAF. He is also a member of the FIFA Executive Council.

His positions on the CAF Executive Committee and FIFA Council will expire in 2021
