Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah has implored Asante Kotoko to be cautious of the weather conditions in Kenya ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup clash against Kariobangi Sharks which is slated for December 13.

The Porcupine Warriors, who are Ghana's only representative in this year's CAF inter-club competition, will depart to Kenya on Tuesday to engage Kariobangi Sharks in the first leg of the preliminary round.

Appiah, who was a member of the Black Stars team that engaged Kenya in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Harambee Stars of Kenya two months ago, has called on the Reds to consider acclimatisation exercise in a country close to Kenya to be able to deal with the high altitude during the game.

"I believe Asante Kotoko must be careful with the weather conditions in Kenya before they play Kariobangi Sharks because it can be a disadvantage to them," Appiah told Abusua FM.

"When the Black Stars faced Ethiopia in the 2019 Afcon qualifiers, the players struggled throughout the second-half because they couldn't breath properly. The weather in Kenya and Ethiopia are almost the same and it is at times terrible for visitors.

"If they train well and go into the game with a well-rehearsed plan, they can achieve a good result. They can even spend few days in one of the neighbouring countries so that they can be ready," he added.
