“Stevanovic has not been sacked” - Anagblah

Jordan Anagblah, Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) says Goran Stevanovic has not been sacked as head coach of the national football team, the Black Stars.

He has therefore described news of the coach’s sack making rounds in some circles as totally false.

“I don’t know where this information is coming from. The GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi is out of the country and as the Acting President, I haven’t signed any letter like that.

“I’m not aware of any communiqué like that to the Coach,” Anagblah told GNA Sports.

He said “the only decision that I know is binding is that we will make a decision about his fate in a fortnight. That position we announced yesterday (Wednesday) remains unchanged.”

The Vice President said the GFA intends to do the necessary consultation and consider all options within the next two weeks before communicating their decision.

The Stars trainer has grown unpopular in the wake of the team’s fourth placing at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea after promising to return with the title.

There have been several calls for his head but the GFA has stated a two-week deadline to announce the future of the coach.
