Coach of the National Amputee football team, Stephen Richard Obeng, has disclosed that the team has not been paid bonuses due them after winning gold at the Paralympic Games in 2023 and for winning the 2024 Amputee AFCON held earlier this year in Egypt.

Speaking on the Sports Chat on Starr FM, he pointed out that the team has still not heard from the Ministry of Youth And Sports even after making accounts to the Ministry of all the monies and donations received from individuals and organizations after the triumph in Egypt.

He also revealed that some of his players who are yet to return to their clubs in Europe have threatened not to play for the national team anymore.

“We submitted the accounts some months back but we’ve not heard anything from the Ministry,” an unhappy Obeng said.

He added, "All our professional players whom I called from Turkey are still here in Ghana because things are very tough for them. Their residential permits have expired.

“It is getting to a stage where when we call some players to join the national team, they won’t be there to play for the team,” he said.

Mubarak Mohammed, who was the best player at the Amputee AFCON, is threatening to retire from the team, according to the coach.

The Black Challenge won gold in the first-ever African Paralympic Games held last year in Ghana and went on to win the Amputee AFCON trophy earlier this year.
