Stop blaming John Mahama for your 2014 sacking - Ex-Black Stars chief advises Kwesi Appiah

Former Black Stars management committee member Yaw Boateng Gyan has called on Kwesi Appiah to stop blaming former President John Mahama over his sacking after the 2014 FIFA World Cup debacle.

Kwesi Appiah has revealed that his sacking in 2014 was politically motivated with former Ghana President, John Mahama, playing a huge role.

Appiah wrote in his book “Leaders Don’t Have To Yell” that John Mahama asked former Ghana Football Association (GFA) capo Kwesi Nyantakyi to show him the exit after they returned from the World Cup in Brazil.

Ghana endured a disgraceful appearance on and off the field.

The Black Stars picked just a point from three games while the country was subjected to international ridicule after money was airlifted to pay the players.

But according to Mr. Gyan, Kwesi Nyantakyi sacked Kwesi Appiah just to finger ex-president John Mahama during an interview on Atinka FM.

“The fact that Nyantakyi told you (Kwasi Appiah) doesnt mean what he said was true,” he told Atinka FM.

"President Mahama never instructed him (Nyantakyi) to sack Kwesi Appiah, perhaps he did that to indict former President John Mahama or something.”

Kwesi Appiah returned as head coach of the team in 2017 but was relieved off his duties after the expiration of his contract.

He had a disastrous Africa Cup of Nations campaign last year in Egypt, where the Black Stars got knocked out at the last 16 stage.
