Stranded Beach Soccer team wait on Minister's promise

The National Beach Soccer team has been left disappointed as the Minister's promise to meet them halfway with flight tickets for players of the Black Sharks never materialized. The special intervention was supposed to save their trip to Durban, South Africa for the 2015 Elite Challenge Trophy.

The deadline passed without the promised assistance from the Sports Minister. However, the President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association, Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah insists that Ghana will be represented in South Africa.

Meanwhile, Protocol officer of the Black Sharks, Kusi Gyamfi confirmed that the association on Monday purchased a set of 15 red and 15 white original Ghana Puma jerseys for the tournament. He said they have grown accustomed to buying their own jerseys every year because there never seem to be some available to the team.

Explaining the drama that transpired at the offices of African Origin Travel & Tours on Monday, Kusi Gyamfi said that they could not take delivery of their flight tickets because the C.E.O Mr. Samson Deen waited ceaselessly on official confirmation from the Sports Minister.

It should be re-called that the association raised nearly half the total amount and it is unclear why the Ministry of Youth and Sports has declined on its word to support the Black Sharks with the remaining $32,000.

The Black Sharks will face African champions Senegal, current top seeds Ivory Coast; number three ranked Nigeria and hosts South Africa.
