Strategic partner for Ghana Airways

The government is expected to give a final decision on the search for a strategic partner for Ghana Airways before November.

The Ministry of Roads and Transport has been studying proposals and a business plan submitted to it by an American-owned Ghana International Airline close to three months now.

The issue of a strategic partner for the ailing airline has resurrected again after its US flight services were banned by the US Department of Transport on safety grounds and also for operating on an expired license.

But Public relations officer of the transport ministry, Ken Anku, told JOY FM that government is evaluating the proposal and will take a decision before November.

Some angry passengers took hostage some officials of the airline on Sunday after they could not be flown to their destinations in London and Duseldorf.

The sector minister has particularly been quiet on the latest predicament that has befallen the airline but Anku said he will soon issue a statement.
