Norwegian side Stromgodset are uncertain if they will keep their Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Abu until the end of the season.

The Black Stars player is loan at the top-flight side from English giants Manchester City until the summer.

But the Norway league leaders are desperate to keep the enforcer to help their push for the league title this season.

Abu has played a key role in their rise to the top of the table and Strømsgodset manager Ron Deila hopes they can get to keep the player until the end of the season.

"Initially, we have him until the summer, so we'll see what happens," says Deila, the coach of Stromgodset, said.

Despite the fear of losing some of his key players including Abu in the summer transfer window to top European clubs, Deila says they have depth in the squad to keep fighting for the title.

"It is of course a challenge to keep the ones we have here, but we also have a good chance of retaining majority of the squad," says Deila.

"We'll probably perform well throughout the season."

Stromsgodset are top of the Norwegian Premier League after seven rounds of matches.

The club has captured 16 points so far.
