Accra, Jan. 07, GNA – Substitute Bernard Ofori’s goal just a minute to end proceedings in the three minutes of added on time earned New Edubaise United the three maximum points over visiting Medeama FC in the 13th Week Glo Premier League match played at the Gyamfi park at Ashanti-Bekwai on Saturday.
The score at the end of the regulated time was goalless as both sides failed to take advantage of the few chances that were created.
Both sides right from the kick-of played well but with Edubiase slightly on top but they could not utilize the chances created by their attackers.
Playing without their main goal-getter, Emmanuel Baffoe, who is on a national assignment with the Black Stars, Edubiase fought hard in the second half for the leader but Medeama’s goalkeeper Murtala Tagoe was at his best to save Stephen Manu’s shots at goal in the 58th and 65th minutes respectively.
Medeama, however, came into the picture in the last embers of the game as they made various attempts at goal but try as they did they found the defence of Edubiase hard to penetrate.
However, when everything seemed to be settling for a drawn game, substitute Ofori forced his way through a cluster of Medeama’s defence men before lobbing the ball over the head of on-rushing goalkeeper Tagoe to register the only goal of the match and to send the home fans into wild jubilation.
