Sudan coach unperturbed about revived Meteors team

Accra, April 7, GNA - Head coach of the Sudan Olympic team, Mohammed Muhideen has said he is unperturbed about facing a revived Black Meteors in this weekend's London 2012 Olympic Games qualifier in Khartoum.

Ghana's Black Meteors have boosted their squad with five foreign-based players for the encounter and must overturn a lone goal loss from the first leg to keep alive their hopes of participating at the next year's Olympics.

Meteors coach David Duncan, who paraded an entirely locally-based squad has had his squad boosted with the confirmation of the availability of Spanish-based duo Ransford Osei and Jonathan Mensah, both of Granda, Daniel Addo of Ukrainian side, FC Zorya, David Addy of Academica in Portugal and Egypt-based Samuel Afum, the only foreign-based player for the first leg.

Coach Muhideen in a telephone chat with GNA Sports from Khartoum said that he is untroubled at facing a revived Ghana team for the second leg.

"We expect a tough test from the Ghanaian team. I'm not worried about the foreign-based players coming for the game as we are optimistic about our chances."

Al-Deeba', as the Ex-Hilal defender is fondly referred to added that he will make no changes to his squad whilst admitting that the tie is not over yet.

"I will maintain the same team for the second leg. The tie is not over yet but we will play out for a win.

"I know the history of Ghana football and we will devise a strategy to contain them and progress to the next stage." Muhideen said his charges victory over Ghana is no fluke but as a result of a documented programme developed by the Sudan Football Association towards the development of the game.

"We want to qualify for the Olympics and this forms part of a development plan by the Sudan Football Association. We are on the right track."

Sudan football has witnessed a gradual projection with their local national team placing third at the recent African Nations Championship (CHAN) on home soil.
