MultiChoice Ghana and SuperSport International, one of the biggest pay television platforms in Africa did not apply for the media rights of the Ghana Premier League.
This was confirmed by the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku during an interview with Joy FM on Saturday.
The new development comes as a big blow to many football lovers who were yearning to see the Ghana League and other Ghana football competitions on the SuperSport platform.
Only last week, the Ghana Football Association announced that seven organisations had put in a bid for the television rights of the association's football products.
In that statement, the GFA also revealed that it was evaluating the bids and it will announce a decision next week.
It now appears that StarTimes will get the nod to telecast the Ghana Premier League only weeks after terminating their initial 10-year contract with the FA by mutual consent.
The Ghana Premier League has not been on TV since it started last month. This is because the broadcasting rights have not been acquired by any company.
