Accra, Oct. 29, GNA - Mr Jerry K. Asare, Director of Operations of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has called on supporters of the club to unite and rally behind the club to regain its former glory as one of the best clubs in Africa.
Mr Asare made the call when addressing Circle 142 of the Teshie-Nungua Supporters Union of the club at Teshie in Accra on Saturday.
He regretted the situation where the supporters of the Club were at each other's throat, saying it does not augur well for the smooth running of a club.
Mr Asare gave the assurance that the dismal performance of the Club in recent times would be the thing of the past, adding that management is in the process of engaging the services of a Turkish Coach for the club with the coach expecting to arrive in the country by Thursday, November 2.
The Director of Operations also announced that the playing body of the Club would be pruned down from 35 to 25 and would be further reduced to 20 in order to instill a sense of discipline among the players and to allow for effective management.
"There is so much indiscipline among the players and the only way to ensure that discipline is maintained in the Club is to take such an action", he declared.
Mr Asare also advised the supporters to desist from visiting the players in the dressing room during matches. Mr Michael Cofie, Chairman of the Union appealed to the new management to dialogue with the old management for the smooth running of the Club.
He asked the members to take active interest in the activities of the Union to enable them contribute their quota towards the development of the Club. 29 Oct. 06
