Supreme Draught Club of Tamale organize contest

Tamale, March 31, GNA - The youth in the Tamale Metropolis have been advised to use their leisure time in engaging in sporting activities and integration instead of indulging in anti-social vices. Israel Akanbontuak, acting Chairman of the Tamale Supreme Draught Club, said this during a contest organised to foster friendship amongst the members and to mark the solemnization of the marriage of a member of the Club, Jonas Adjei which took place at the week-end at Zogbeli, a suburb of Tamale near the West End Hospital. Mark Boakye, (Africa) a 24 year old sales boy from Koforidua won the first prize of a double sim mobile phone after he beat Afa Gariba by two straight games in the final match.

The competition, which was very competitive, saw a high attendance of enthusiastic draught players and their supporters cheering on their favourites players but it was the cool 91Africa' who emerged victorious with the noted players fading out in the knock-out stages. The Club's favourite student player, Majeed was eliminated by Suhuyini Assemblyman in a closely and highly competitive contest that ended 5-4 with Gariba also ditching Colombia Abudu Imoro in the semis, while the likes of Habibu, Mohammed Fire, Chris Mohammed and Yunusa all fell out at the qualifying stages.

Mr Adjei, a private business man, popularly called 91Accra Man' and wife Mrs Amewode blessed their marriage at a mass wedding at the Tamale Ola Catholic Parish at the week-end.

He thanked the members for sharing in the joy of the family and said their presence showed their unity of purpose despite their coming from different and diverse ethnic groups in the Municipality. Mr Adjei urged the members to use the game of draught to assist each other to live in peace and be in gainful employment to contribute towards the socio-economic development of their communities and society since sports is unifying factor to any form conflict. 31 March 11
