A refurbished basketball court valued at GH¢36,000 has been handed over to the Tamale Senior High School (TAMASCO), to help enhance and improve sporting activities in the school.

The sporting facility was funded by the 1998 Old TAMASCO Students Association (OTA) and handed over to the school, to commemorate the 1998 OTA's 20th Anniversary of completing the school.

Mr Abdul Latif Bavug, the Branch Manager of Ecobank, Tamale and also the President of the 1998 Old TAMASCO Students Association said the refurbishing the basketball court by the 1998 year batch of students, was a way of showing their gratitude to their Alma mater for making them responsible and important personalities to serve the country through different professions.

He said though the 1998 OTA was a young group, the association was committed to help in supporting the school to continue to lift its image within the north and the country at large.

He encouraged the headmaster of the school and staff to help ensure that students use the facility appropriately to help develop and encourage their interest in sports to build a healthy body and sound mind.

Mr. Suaib Wilberforce Adams, the Headmaster of TAMASCO expressed gratitude to 1998 OTA for the sporting facility handed and urged other old students to emulate the 1998 old students association.

He said the initiative had boosted the school's moral since the school was not performing well in basketball, adding the dilapidated nature of the school's basketball court as one of the factors that was hindering its performance in basketball.

He said the school would soon be hosting the Zone Four athletics activities and the court would help boost the school's moral.

Mr. Adams also acknowledged the effort of some of the old TAMASCO students who have also helped to improve the school such as renovation of the school’s old assembly hall, at main entrance.
