The world’s leading Dual Sim Mobile Phone Company TECNO has been unveiled as Official Title Sponsor for the maiden edition of the Ghana’s Fastest Human Athletics reality television show.

TECNO Ghana will also act as Official Clothing Partners for the competition, and will thus support it with running vests and shirts worth thousands of Ghana Cedis.


At a formal session held at the company’s corporate office at Darkuman Junction in Accra, it’s Corporate Sales Manger Estherlove Amegavi underscored TECNO’s role to the development of sports in the country, adding that her outfit finds the competition a worthy channel to invest in sports and recreation.


“Athletics has gone undertone for some time now, so we share the dream of the Ghana’s fastest Human organizers in raising the image of our dear athletes, and also to encourage the youth with such talents to rise up and shine,” she said.


TECNO she says “is proud to be a supporter of Ghana Athletics from the grassroots.”


“We believe that with TECNO Mobile showing the way as Title and Clothing Sponsor this great inaugural year, it will help to open more doors for Corporate Ghana to come fully behind the development of Ghana Athletics.”

TECNO’s support for the competition comes months after supporting the successful execution of a number of activities of the Michael Essien Foundation in Ghana, which included a World XI and Africa XI Charity match a the Accra Sports Stadium.


It also comes days after it launched its latest tablet the Phantom PAD, which is already the talk of town.


Reks Brobby of the Ghana’s Fastest Human Competition says the competition was borne out of the need to once again, make athletics attractive.


“We want to make Ghana’s athletics sexy,” he said. “We want to make it attractive so that we are able to reverse the trend; so that years down the line we will gladly speak of how we’ve managed to bring it back to life.”


The competition is open to both males and females and will take place at District, Regional and National levels. Forms will sell at all Fidelity Bank braches for GHC10 throughout the month of August.

Some 50 athletes, out of a good number expected to take part in the elimination processes, will make it to the reality episodes in October. At stake is prize money of 40,000 for the two final winners, a male and female.


The well-attended event saw in attendance some former national record holders including Sandy Osei Agyemang, as well as other corporate sponsors, and officials from the Ghana Olympic Committee, the National Sports Authority, and the Ghana Amateur Athletics Association.


Nene Nagai Kasa VIII, Chief of Agomeda, privately known as Mike Gizo, chaired the event. He is also the Life Patron of Ghana’s Fastest Human competition.
