TIC TAC to raise funds for GOC

Accra, June 23, GNA - Kweku Dua, popularly known as Tic Tac, a hiplife artist is to embark on a fundraising musical show to raise funds for Ghana's contingent for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. The show dubbed "Ghana for Gold-Athens 2004" is being organised by the Goodies Music Promotions in collaboration with the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) as part of their fund raising activities towards the Games.

The event, which is scheduled for the National Theatre, is also to be used by Tic Tac to launch his new album titled "Wope". Other hiplife artist such as VIP, Antwi 'n' Antwi, Sidney, Tiny, "Abrewa Nana" and Batman are among others expected to perform at the show.

Speaking at the launching of the event, Tic Tac said time has come for musicians to join hands to raise the standard of sports in the country. He said "this is an opportunity to make our sports men and women proud by raising the needed funds for them in other put up their best performance at the Games."

Mr Benson Tongo Baba, Chairman of GOC said the Committee has reached an important stage of their fund raising activities and they will need the total support of all to achieve the needed success.

He said raising adequate funds for the Olympic team would boost the morale of the athletes to win medals at the Games.

Mr Baba added that, "Ghana has never won a gold medal at the Olympic Games and this is the time for them to achieve this dream." The GOC Chairman said about 50 to 60 per cent of the proceeds from the show will go into the support of the Olympic team and called on Ghanaians to patronise the show.

Mr Mawuli Okudzetu, a popular Ghanaian fashion designer also pledged to cloth Ghana's contingent with clothing with his company's label worth 150,000 dollars.

He said the clothes would be designed to portray the Ghanaian culture, adding that the offer is the beginning of good things to happen.
