Former England U-18 winger Tariqe Fosu has expressed delight in earning his first call up to the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars.

The Brentford midfielder revealed it is a dream of his since a kid to represent the four times Africa champions at the senior level.

Born in England to Ghanaian parents, Tariqe was eligible to represent the European giants but opted to play for Ghana after a visit by Ghana coach C.K Akonor.

"An honour to be called up to the Ghana national team. It’s been a dream of mine since a kid. A special day for me & my family too. Excited to be playing with some of Ghana’s most talented," he posted on Twitter on Ghana's independence day.

The 24-year old joined Brentford in the winter transfer window from Oxford United, and has already made three appearances for the club.

Tariqe Fosu could make his senior national team debut when Ghana hosts Sudan on March 27, 2020 in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
