Accra, Oct. 3, GNA 96 Ishmael Addo and Charles Taylor will after all not play in the next league match for Accra Hearts of Oak despite their registration by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) last week.
The GFA is reported to have sent a letter to Accra Hearts of Oak revoking the registration of the two players following a recommendation from its Legal Committee.
This is contrary to earlier reports, which stated that the registration of the duo was based on the recommendations of the Legal Committee of the GFA.
The GFA is said to be demanding further proof of the release of the two players by their respective clubs in Greece and Tunisia before accepting their registration and participation in the premiership.
Addo and Taylor were registered under Article 28 (1d) a new clause of the rules, which grants the FA a special discretion to register players whose contracts with their foreign clubs have expired.
Addo is reported to have completed his contract with a Greek club, whilst Taylor was loaned to Hearts by his Tunisian side, Etoile Du Sahel.
Mr. Ashford Tettey-Oku Administrative Manager of Hearts confirmed to the GNA Sports the receipt of the letter from the GFA refusing the registration of the two players.
He described the new development as contradictory, since it was the same Committee which recommended the registration of the duo after sitting over a petition filed by Hearts for the registration of Addo and Taylor despite the closure of the first registration window.
According to Mr Tettey-Oku, there seemed to be some form of plot in the whole twist but he stated that his club was preparing to put up the appropriate defence.
Mr Tettey-Oku however refused to disclose the nature of defence they would be putting up to make a case for the two players.
The new development is expected to spark another controversy on the local scene with Taylor once again taking center stage.
Taylor's record 1.2 billion cedi transfer from Hearts to Kotoko about two seasons ago generated a lot of controversy.
He was later transferred to Sahel of Tunisia but failed to conclude his contract with the Tunisians and returned to Kotoko on a short loan spell but the fabulous lads could not extend the loan after its expiration in June.
Hearts however succeeded in getting the services of the player for an unlimited loan period.
The duo might be compelled to stay till January when the second registration window opens, to be registered if Hearts fail to turn the tide in their favour.
