Accra, Oct 7, GNA - The British Council and the Youth Sport Trust, a Community Sport Programme, will on Friday October 17, hold a nation wide celebration of cross-cultural sports awareness programme for ten selected schools in Nima and Maamobi.
The festival, which is part of the Dreams and Teams project of the Council, will be held at the "Kawokudi" park, Maamobi and will see the participating children linking up with other participants from Failsworth Sports College in Oldham, UK, through the Internet and mobile link.
The festival, which is aimed developing leadership skills to raise international standards of the children through sports will involve 300 children from the ten schools who will take part in football, ampe, treasure chest and handball.
Mr Andrew Battomer Co-ordinator of the project at the British Council said the link will be made possible because the festival will be held in UK on the same day and time as that of the Ghanaians. Mr Batomer said the project is a global one and over twenty countries are taking part in it adding that participants will be given an element of international experience and become part of the global network of young leaders.
The first pilot project was held last month at the Juros Kirby School in Maamobi and was attended by Mr Rashid Bawa Minister of State at the Ministry of Youth Education and Sports.
