Accra, Feb. 5, GNA - The Ghana Table Tennis Association has put in place a training programme to develop Ghana's finest table tennis players=
who have the potential to represent the country in future international competitions. The programme, which is dubbed "National Model Teams Weekend Trainin= g Camp", involves six top national coaches and 24 best national table tenni= s players selected from competitive National Under-15 and 18 and Seniors Championships held from 2008 to 2009 at the D. G Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Accra. The selected players will undergo continuous weekend training at the=
Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Osu-Accra beginning Friday 5th - Sunday 7th February, 2010 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm= each day of each weekend.
A statement signed by Kwame Amponfi Jr, Secretary General of the Association copied to GNA Sports said the camp is to enable the players s= tay active throughout the year and to be battle ready at all times for all impending international competitions. The 24 member list is made up of seniors, juniors and cadet categori= es. The male seniors category will have Bernard Joe Sam, Eric Ofori Addo= , (Custom, Excise and Preventive Service), Derek Abrefa and Felix Lartey fr= om the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS). The female team has Efua Oforiwah Owusu -Adjei (Custom, Excise and Preventive Service), Beatrice Gyasi (Ghana Police Service), Bernice Borquye - Ghana Navy and Akosua Ketu of Sunyani Polytechnic making up the=
team. Mawutor Quarcoo of the Greater Accra Region, Emmanuel Commey (GIS), Samuel Akayade - Koforidua Secondary Technical School and Stephen Sam-Men= sah of Oxford Computer School makes up the juniors boys division, whilst Ceci= lia Baah Danso of Sunyani Polytechnic, Cynthia Kwabi and Abigail Tetteh (GIS)=
and Eva Amankwah of Ashanti Region represent the female juniors category. In the Cadets division, Emmanuel Asante of Koforidua Secondary Technical School, Kingsley Hooper - University Practice J.H.S, Winneba, Isaac Davies - Catholic Jubilee School-Cape Coast, Desmond Nketia Roman Catholic Junior High School Koforidua for the males, with Gina Hackman of= H & E Education Center - Winneba, Gloria Asafo Adjei and Judith Adams from Koforidua, Fatima Obiri-Yeboah - Greater Accra Region make up the female team.
The camping exercise will is under the sponsorship of the National Sports Council (NSC) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports with Mr Samuel Tobbin, CEO of Tobinco Pharmaceutical and J. A. Biney and Co. Ltd donatin= g GH¢ 2,000.00 and GH¢ 500.00 respectively whilst Mr Samuel Kwabena Dei= , CEO Mallas Ice Company donating 'T' Shirts for the participants.
