The European version of Black Stars - Ghanaians mock England after losing 2024 Euros

Some Ghanaians on social media have mocked England after their loss in the 2024 Euros final to Spain, labelling the Three Lions as the European equivalent of the Black Stars.

England failed to break their long trophy drought on Sunday, July 14, 2024, falling 2-1 to Spain in the Euros final in Berlin.

The English team has gone 58 years without winning an international trophy, with the streak set to hit 60 years before the next major tournament.

After another disappointing final defeat, some Ghanaians on social media specifically X (formerly Twitter) pointed out the similarities between England's trajectory and the Black Stars of Ghana regarding their prolonged trophyless periods.

While England have endured 58 years without a trophy, Ghana have surpassed four decades without a win, leading to the comparison as the European version of the Black Stars.

Others noted the parallel between Ghana's two AFCON final losses and England's consecutive Euros final defeats.
