In the February ranking released by FIFA on Wednesday, Ghana dropped from 79th position to 80th behind countries like Guatemala, China, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The country still lag behind Zimbabwe who made their debut at the African Cup of Nations, a competition that Ghana has won a record four times.
The drop by Ghana in the overall world ranking corresponds with a fall in its ranking on the African continent.
The country moved one step down from 15th place to 16th, which it occupied in the January ranking.
Cameroon is still ranked as the best African side despite failing to retain their African crown at the just ended African nations cup. Nigeria who finished third are second in the ranking one place above Senegal who could only reach the quarterfinal stage.
Tunisia by virtue of their triumph at the African Cup of Nations have moved up 14 places in the world ranking to 31 in the world and fourth in Africa.
