Legendary Ghanaian gospel musician, Esther Smith, has detailed the inspirational story of how her son went from a boy with a heart condition to a professional player who is currently on the books of a club in Germany.

The iconic musician, in a JoyPrime interview, recounted the early struggles of her son, which began when he was in her womb.

Esther Smith narrated that owing to certain conditions surrounding the birth of her son, she experienced haemorrhage throughout the months of his delivery.

The legendary musician is, however, happy that her son has recovered from the condition and signed his first professional contract with a German team in July 2024.

“I gave birth to him prematurely and in those seven months, I experienced hemorrhage. He used to struggle with blood oozing from his nostrils during the summer, and during winter, he experienced breathing issues, so we spent a lot of time at the hospital.

“When he turned six and decided to play football, I opposed, but his doctor advised that we could let him play football but have to manage him. He is a very good footballer who scores a lot of goals. Just last month, he got signed by a professional club in Germany.

“He compares his situation to that of Cristiano Ronaldo because he claims Ronaldo had similar struggles at the early stages of his life but overcame them, so he is confident he will also become a successful footballer. I don't know much about football, so I asked him if he could do it, and he assured me that if Ronaldo could do it, then he certainly can do it too,” she narrated.

The conversation on JoyPrime forms part of media engagements by the legendary musician ahead of the Accra edition of her musical concert on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Perez Dome in Accra.
