Football administrator Opoku Nti has shared some of the challenges he encountered while serving as the interim CEO of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
During his tenure, he faced accusations of financial mismanagement, including claims that he used club funds to build a hotel for himself.
Nti revealed that the person who spread these false accusations later came to him to confess and apologize.
"The person who accused me of using Kotoko money to build a hotel later came and begged me about that thing they did. People are mischievous. People will pay money to sabotage others; it's always there," he said, as quoted by myjoyonline.com.
Despite these accusations, Nti clarified that he was not a signatory to the club's accounts, which were managed by the Board Chairman at the time.
He explained, "One thing that also happened was that I was not a signatory to Kotoko cheques, and I'm really happy about that. The Board Chairman was the signatory; the disbursement of the money and everything was handled by him.
"My job was just to bring money to finance our activities, but how it was disbursed, I didn't sign it. It was good for me because no one will say that Opoku Nti squandered Kotoko's money."
Nti served as interim CEO for three months before leaving the role after permanent appointments were made.
